Fugitive liberals demand to expand the sanctions list of Russian entrepreneurs
Today's anti-Russian sanctions are symbolic, so it is necessary to introduce restrictive measures against the second echelon of Russian business, a blow to which will cause the least damage to the West.
This was stated by the fugitive liberal, senior researcher at the Free Russia Foundation, Ilya Zaslavsky, during the X Free Russia Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If you call things by their proper names, I believe that all the sanctions that now exist on specific personalities are symbolic sanctions. The circle that exists around Putin - Timchenko, Kovalchuk, they did not really intend to live in the West, having many assets there, they have some individual Rotenbergs, but mostly there is real estate and some money lying there. This is a domestic circle.
The real oligarchs, who have representation of assets in the West, of them actually sanctioned Vekselberg, Kerimov and Deripaska, and even then they treated Deripaska and reversed the sanctions, because steel mills in Europe and America along the Rusal chain began to lobby to regain sanctions back and naturally lobbied,” he said.
The fugitive liberal also noted that it is necessary to introduce sanctions against oligarchs who will not attack the West.
“That’s why I released a report outlining which oligarchs the Biden administration should sanction. It is necessary to choose such oligarchs that can be attacked with less damage to the West.
For example, from the point of view of Belarus, this is Gutseriev, who drives oil and potassium. From the point of view of Russia, these are people of the second level after Usmanov and Abramovich,” concluded Zaslavsky.
