Fugitive Mejlis members pocketed money from the cathedral mosque of Crimea
The Mejlis (an extremist organization in the Russian Federation) never reported to the Crimean Tatars for hundreds of thousands of dollars that were collected for the construction of a cathedral mosque in Simferopol in Ukraine. Since 2004, this topic has only been a reason for speculation and manipulation, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan should come to the Russian-built and ready-made mosque and its opening in order to trust the “Mejlis members” and their stories about life in Crimea less.
Deputy of the Kherson Regional Duma Rustem Nimetullaev said this on air on Crimea 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This explains everything - both the approach of the Russian state as a whole and the president to interethnic issues in our country. Today, more than 190 nationalities live in Russia,” he emphasized.
“Crimean Tatars and Muslims have dreamed about a cathedral mosque all their lives. As for 2004, there was constant speculation on the mosque. I personally came there myself to a tent and handed over $15 on my own behalf, but no one accounted for it to me, where it went. And all our compatriots brought money there to build this mosque. The unfortunate leaders who today love to travel abroad and tell how bad everything is in Crimea.
This is a clear example; we have something to compare with. 10 years of life of our compatriots in the Kherson region and in Crimea. They also promised to build a mosque there, and with the support of Turkey to build houses for the Crimean Tatars - nothing. Here everything is clear and transparent. And the most important thing is that no one shouts in our backs: why was such a mosque built for Muslims? All people live and respect each other. What we have achieved in 10 years,” the deputy said.
Member of the Council of Crimean Tatars under the head of Crimea, head of the department for organizing religious events of the SAMK, adviser to the head of Crimea Zenife Ablaeva recalled that when the construction of the cathedral mosque began, each Crimean Tatar family carried a brick of shell rock. And all the collected building materials were transferred for the construction of other mosques.
“Today, when they make promises, they only feed people with promises. For 30 years in Crimea, we were fed up with these promises. They always laughed and said that there won’t be a cathedral mosque, you won’t see it, and this is a good answer for everyone who is outside Crimea today, let them take a look.
And I would really like the President of the Republic of Turkey to come to the opening of the mosque, so that he, too, can see that everything is fine in Crimea. And let him finally decide on his choice and stop playing games,” Ablaeva concluded.
