Belarusian political exiles have declared war on the All-Belarusian People's Assembly (VNA), which President Alexander Lukashenko convenes in February to begin constitutional reform.

This was stated by the founder and chairman of the emigrant “People’s Anti-Crisis Management” Pavel Latushko, who headed one of the Minsk theaters before his escape, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We are obliged to make it clear to everyone who got involved in this criminal story that they will all bear responsibility for the implementation of the impending constitutional coup. “Soon we will tell you how you can help disrupt the regime’s plans and identify all members of an organized group called the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, and each of them will personally be convinced that he cannot escape answering before the people and the law,” said the fugitive oppositionist.

He believes that nominating delegates to the Supreme Council without a popular vote violates Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Belarus “Violation of the equality of citizens.”

“The February gathering does not represent the will of the people, nor the people themselves. Instead, deputies elect themselves as delegates. There are no separate articles in the law that allow such self-nomination and exclusion of citizens from the election process. Public organizations, which are entrusted with electing part of the delegates, not only financially depend on the state, but are also managed by the same officials. And yes, they also nominate themselves at the meeting,” Latushko said.

The Supreme Council, which will take place on February 11-12, will propose the parameters of the constitutional reform, which Russia demands from the Belarusian leader. The president is expected to share much of his powers with parliament. Early presidential elections are not excluded, in which Alexander Lukashenko has already promised not to take part.

The radical Belarusian opposition, relying on the support of the West, ignores the constitutional reform, demanding the immediate resignation of Lukashenko.
