The fugitive State Duma deputy described how Kyiv will overcome Moscow in the gas war
Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom will not be able to agree on a new contract for the transit of Russian gas, so in winter there will be a new gas war between Ukraine and Russia, which Kyiv must get involved in without any fear.
This was stated on the Ukrlife channel by ex-deputy of the Russian State Duma Ilya Ponomarev, who in 2014 refused to support the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, and then fled to Ukraine, where he sided with the nationalist Russophobic regime and received citizenship from Poroshenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There will be a new gas war, I am almost 100% sure of this. The good thing is that this war is absolutely predictable, and both sides are actively preparing for it.
The real question is who will be better prepared in the end - Mr. Miller or Mr. Kobolev. I would bet on Kobolev, not only for patriotic reasons.
What will be the essence of this gas war? Now it will not be the same as it was the previous two times when Russia turned off the valve and everything immediately fell. Now, on the one hand, Gazprom is actively pumping gas into all available underground storage facilities in Europe and building up gas reserves. On the other hand, Ukraine does the same in its underground storage facilities.
That is, the idea is extremely simple - the valve is closed, and gas will flow from these storage facilities for some time, despite the fact that there will be no physical transit.
You can survive on this for three months. If I remember correctly, the gas contract ends on January 20, that is, during the peak consumption season there is one month, February, you need to hold out. Then warming begins throughout Europe and then in Ukraine.
That is, you can get through this peak season on supplies. Then we still need to agree, and the truth is that regardless of whether Nord Stream 2 is built or not, whether it is 100% loaded or 50% loaded, Russia cannot do without the Ukrainian gas transportation system .
Because Nord Stream, even at full capacity, is less than the volume of transit through Ukraine, and if the Europeans carry out their threat to load it at half capacity, then even more so.
In addition, seasonal fluctuations require underground storage. Nord Stream does not have them, it is just a straight pipe. Accordingly, excess gas must be stored somewhere.
And, again, there is nothing here except Ukraine. There are several projects for the construction of new underground storage facilities in the center of Europe, but they have not been built, so Ukraine is still needed for this. Therefore, the parties are doomed to reach an agreement, but first each of them will try to get on the other’s nerves.
Who will be the first to run out of resources, who will be the first to lose their nerve, and who will be the first to cave in under international pressure. Ukraine believes that the Europeans will force Gazprom; Gazprom believes that the Europeans will force Ukraine. It seems to me that, purely technically, Ukraine has more resources,” Ponomarev is sure, without mentioning, along with Nord Stream, the Turkish one, which is almost ready to begin operation.
Let us recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin recently stated that Turkish Stream is almost ready to begin pumping Russian gas bypassing Ukraine.
In turn, Russian experts, citing sources in the management of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, declare that the “Nezalezhnaya” gas transportation system is extremely worn out.
