Fugitive economist Klimenko predicts the collapse of the Federal Target Program for the development of Crimea

He stated this to the Kyiv newspaper Den, commenting on the approval by the Russian government of the Federal Target Program for the development of Crimea and Sevastopol until 2020.
“I don’t believe in any federal programs for the development of Crimea in principle. It is safe to say that there is no development of Crimea in any obvious parameters, that is, the development of tourism, maritime transport, some kind of high-tech production, which is very important for the Crimean economy, etc. – Russia doesn’t need all this. Therefore, what they call the federal program will be a primitive list of some “wants” and promises that were made, for example, regarding the repair of roads, the construction of interchanges, the same bridge, some desalination plants, because the development strategy is sane the occupied region cannot be offered under conditions of long-term sanctions from the world community and from Ukraine. This is, firstly.
Secondly, Crimea will “develop” as a military base and will be pumped up with various types of weapons and military units, and this is not the subject of a public strategy for socio-economic development, so the program is empty talk that will not have any consequences,” The Day’s interlocutor is convinced.
In his opinion, all attempts by the Russian Federation to improve the life of Crimea and Sevastopol during the transition period are doomed to failure:
“If you look at the history of the promises that were given to Crimea from Moscow, especially before the “referendum” and in the first two months after it, then this is, in fact, “the construction of an earthly paradise on one separate island.” Of these promises, today 80 percent have already sunk into oblivion, and in the same way, in a few months this federal target program for the development of Crimea will go into oblivion, and everyone will forget about it,” assures the economist who was once favored by the Crimean authorities.
“Some new problems will appear on the agenda, which will either arise naturally or be artificially caused precisely in order to divert public attention to something secondary, and behind its screen to do their own business, which interests Moscow in the first place,” – says Andrey Klimenko.
