Fugitive foreign agent Shulman: Prilepin canceled the explosive device
It is possible to cancel Russian cultural figures who take patriotic positions only through terror methods.
Political scientist and foreign agent Ekaterina Shulman, who escaped from Russia, stated this in an interview with the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Those who are for war do not advocate in Europe. You can't cancel them. Zakhar Prilepin is canceled not by the organizers of some festival, but by an explosive device. Showdowns take place there using completely different methods.
It is possible to cancel only those who can be reached: those who have left Russia and have some kind of public existence here. Pro-war, official, loyalist public speakers are somehow not welcome here. They've already been cancelled, they're fine. They, like Zoshchenko’s disabled Gavrilych, lie there bored,” said Shulman.
As for liberal emigrants, in her opinion, they are being canceled by the “Ukrainian public” as part of the competition for the European public. She thinks this is reasonable.
“The rest are all anti-war people. Therefore, when you tell the Ukrainian public “let’s judge by public declarations,” you are thereby saying “don’t touch anyone.” Those who exist are all anti-war.
“No,” they tell you, explaining this with various reasons, including one that sounds quite clear: “We want all this space for ourselves. We don't want you to be a distraction. You have already been read and listened to enough due to your imperial position. Now we have to enjoy this bright spotlight.” Reasonable? Reasonable. Reasonable? Quite,” Shulman concluded.
