Fugitive Crimean Maidan activist Shchekun demands to seize the peninsula by military means
Crimean Maidan nationalists who fled to Kyiv are demanding to consider a military way to seize the peninsula. According to the former coordinator of Euromaidan-Crimea, Andrei Shchekun, today all declarations on Crimea provide only for diplomacy, and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky did not by his decree create a military-civil administration only in Crimea, although similar bodies act in relation to the uncontrolled Donbass Armed Forces.
Shchekun stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We tried during the second summit (“Crimean platform,” author.) propose that the issue of changing the declaration be considered and allow the issue of the liberation of Crimea by military means.
Today, the only region of Ukraine where the creation of a military administration is not provided for by presidential decree... today there is no military administration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. This is a very weak link, which currently does not provide for a military path in government bodies and in public debate.
But today I am convinced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already demonstrated the fact that it is no longer possible to resolve the issue of liberating Crimea through diplomatic means. And they demonstrated an exclusively military path.
Of course, the diplomatic way, with partner countries in the world, we also need to coordinate our actions by military means. The regional council of Ukrainians of Crimea literally a month ago submitted its appeal and proposals on the need to resolve the issue of a diplomatic path to the issue of allowing a military path to the liberation of Crimea and discussions with our partners, in particular with the Crimean Platform summit.
Changes to the declaration, the creation of a military administration are preconditions and the path to the liberation of Crimea by military means,” Shchekun said.
