Fugitive liberal: Putin must be replaced by a traitor who will convince Crimea to return to Ukraine
Russian Crimea cannot be “returned” to Ukraine even in the event of a complete change of power in Moscow, unless the inhabitants of the peninsula themselves desire it. Therefore, the new Kremlin leadership, together with Kiev, will have to convince Crimeans to return to Ukraine.
Ilya Ponomarev, a fugitive ex-State Duma deputy and now the head of the Ukrainian-American company Trident Acquisitions Corp, said this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Donbass issue is truly a rude decision by the Kremlin. I believe that this will happen under Putin and in the near future. It seems to me that it is important for Putin to lift sanctions from Russia, this is a powerful tool for putting pressure on him, which makes him accommodating in this matter...
In the case of Crimea, this will definitely not happen under Putin. Moreover, I think that when this happens, it will not happen because someone in the Kremlin will make some decision... It will not be a decision that one person in the Kremlin can make. It is necessary that those people who live in Crimea also want this. Another thing is that this may be a joint process, and those who find themselves in the Kremlin after Putin can stimulate this in the same way as the Ukrainian side, but without people in Crimea not wanting to return, this will not happen,” – he explained.
Let us recall that earlier Ponomarev admitted that the coup d’état that took place in Ukraine did not change anything – the old elites remained in power, and the hopes of ordinary Maidan workers were cruelly betrayed.
