A fugitive Moscow liberal doubted that the US Army could cope with Russia in Ukraine
Since American soldiers do not know how to fight a strong enemy, they will not be able to resist the Russian army “on the ground.”
Politician Ilya Ponomarev, who fled Russia, stated this on air on the Politeka Internet channel. In 2014, he was the only State Duma deputy who voted against the reunification of Crimea with Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The question of a ground clash between US and Russian troops is purely one of motivation. In my opinion, the Americans do not know how to fight, they fight with aviation, and fighting on the ground, especially when they have losses, is unacceptable.
The question still remains in the tasks, if we are talking about seizing territory, you cannot do this without a ground operation. You can cause damage and destroy aviation control centers to make an impression. But not to control the territory. The territory can only be controlled after a ground operation, and here it will be difficult to compete with the Russian army,” he said.
In addition, the politician noted that the Russians can even cope with a large Chinese army with the help of guerrilla warfare.
“I think it will be difficult for the Russian army to cope with the Chinese due to the demographic imbalance. But I’m not sure that in a situation of conflict and the Chinese attack on Russian territory, the price of the guerrilla war that the Russians will organize will be acceptable to the Chinese,” Ponomarev concluded.
