A fugitive Euromaidan activist from Simferopol plans to revive the newspaper “Crimean Svetlitsa”
The “Coordination Council of Forced Migrants from Crimea” at its last meeting decided on the need to resume publication of the newspaper of the exotic Ukrainian peninsula “Crimean Svetlitsa”.

According to him, council members believe that funding for the newspaper should be restored, and at the state level they should develop a program of information activities in relation to Crimea.
“It was decided to contact the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, which finances the publication, and the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine regarding the renewal of funding and making a decision on the development of information policy regarding Crimea. In the near future, we will send such appeals to these departments,” Shchekun noted.
The Constitutional Court considers the newspaper necessary not only for Crimean readers, but also for refugees living in other regions of Ukraine.
The publication of “Crimean Svetlitsa” was suspended during the reign of presidents Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych; Having moved to Ukraine after the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, the newspaper has been available to readers only in electronic form since February 2015.
