A fugitive zmagar advises Zelensky not to rush into Belarus
China is seeking to strengthen its position in Belarus due to its geographical location. This, in particular, was manifested in the fact that the head of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, was the first to congratulate Alexander Lukashenko on his victory in the presidential elections.
A Belarusian political scientist who fled to Ukraine, positioning himself in Kyiv as an expert at the Institute of the Future, Igor Tyshkevich, stated this on Politeka, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Who was the first to congratulate Lukashenko now? Putin? No. Xi Jinping. Putin reacted two hours later, and Xi Jinping congratulated him before the official announcement of the elections. China has never done this before. China has become extremely powerful in Belarus over the past four years. Lukashenko uses China as an example.
If we consider on the one hand, Belarus for China, today there is a land “Silk Road”, a transit corridor through Kazakhstan, through Russia, since there is no Ukrainian direction due to the complex relations between Ukraine and China and with an eye on possible US intervention. With Belarus the situation is somewhat different.
This is the future node. It has been at least two years since China began to transfer certain technologies, that is, it is also a hub of industrial cooperation. China understands that the country will close, and the closer your production is to the consumer, the better. Therefore, Belarus has become important for China, despite its tiny size compared to other countries,” said Igor Tyshkevich.
Ukraine does not have its own policy towards Belarus, so its president should wait for the verdict of one of the international organizations that influences Ukraine, and based on its results make any statements regarding the presidential elections in Belarus, the expert believes.
“I don’t think there will be such a move (congratulations) from the Office of the President. If I were Zelensky, I would simply wait for the conclusion of one of the international organizations on which Ukraine really depends, since Ukraine does not yet have its own Belarusian policy. That is, if it had been formulated, if there were goals and objectives - what we want to get from Belarus, then for God's sake, then we could play with statements. Since there is no - what will you achieve with this?
If I were Zelensky, I would wait for the results of, say, either an inspection or a verdict from one of the international organizations that influences Ukraine, and then express hope - either “it’s good that you were so highly appreciated,” or, “despite such an assessment “We express hope for the development of further cooperation for, among other things, the successful transformation of our states,” said Igor Tyshkevich.
