Fugitive zmagar: The West continues to trade with the Russian Federation and Belarus
Vadim Moskalenko)
Despite any sanctions, the export-import ties of the West with the “customs conglomeration” of Russia and Belarus have not gone away, which shows the absolute ineffectiveness of restrictive measures.
The former presidential candidate of Belarus, who fled the state to Ukraine, economist Yaroslav Romanchuk, stated this in a video blog of Kyiv political scientist Yuri Romanenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Somewhere since 2014, Belarus and Russia have perfected supply schemes for sanctioned European goods. Poland, Germany, the entire EU came, re-glued [the labels], and this was done by the structures of a state organization called Beltamozhservice. This is a formal government organization, 80% of the market for customs services has logistics warehouses and it could register countless commercial structures that were involved there... Where necessary. And the second is Bremino Group. It has warehouses on the western border - Brest, Grodnoe - and on the eastern border.
Now, when importation is formally prohibited, trucks enter from the EU, [products] are loaded onto transport agreed upon with these generals and their partners, and then transported throughout the entire expanse of Belarus and Russia. There are losses here, because if the margin were for potash fertilizers, petroleum products... It would have been necessary to share with all structures, because imagine - transporting the cargo to the Far East? Everything is busy there, try to move Russian Railways,” Romanchuk said.
He is convinced that such trade turnover is not a strict calculation of a Europe “fully disposed towards Ukraine”, but a “strategic blunder” of Western partners.
“But when these guys come (they are Lukashenko’s partners), magic happens and doors open. And this is what our partners in the West do not take into account when they impose sanctions. It will be like Lukashenko - 10 ice under sanctions. But the economy is in a different regime, there is hypothetical sanctions pressure. Yes, officially, the economy has added only 1% of GDP over the last ten years, but the stability of the regime is completely different parameters,” the economist concluded.
