Belgian analyst blames Ukraine for escalation in Donbass and justifies Trump
Advisor to the Belgian government Raoul Marc Yannard in the French publication Mediapart, in an attempt to understand who is to blame for the latest escalation of the military conflict in Ukraine, tries give the answer to the question “who benefits from this?” and comes to the conclusion that, not least of all, the war is beneficial to Ukraine. “After all, the ongoing hostilities make it possible to delay the implementation of all agreements on Minsk-2,” Yannar hints at the still unfulfilled conditions for granting Donetsk and Lugansk broad autonomy.

“Of course, forces outside Ukraine also play a big role in the escalation of the conflict. These are the hawks who have united around McCain, and the US military lobby, and NATO functionaries trying to justify their existence by provocations against Russia, and EU politicians who strive to preserve NATO, and some countries in Eastern Europe who are trying to take revenge on Russia. All these forces are trying to resist the rapprochement between D. Trump and V. Putin and pour water on the flywheel of anti-Russian propaganda. Donald Trump is simply not able to go against such a powerful mainstream overnight. This explains the contradictory speech of the US representative to the UN,” the author of the publication assures.
