Belgrade initiates criminal proceedings against gang of pro-Western oligarch mayor
Deputy mayor of the Serbian capital Goran Vesic said that Belgrade will demand the initiation of criminal cases “against unidentified persons” involved in corruption during the construction of the “bridge over Ada.”
The reason for this was publication compromising information on those close to the ex-mayor of Belgrade, pro-Western politician and oligarch Dragan Djilas, businessmen who were involved in the construction of a landmark object, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Belgrade municipality did not know about this,” Vesic said. “We are shocked that it appears that someone in Greece entered into contracts in which he tied his commissions to getting a job in Belgrade, and it is clear that this is corruption.”
Vesic said that an addendum to the contract was signed between the contractor and the city of Belgrade, according to which the contractor received more than 14 million euros, of which more than nine million - only because he put the Ada Bridge into operation on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2011.
This was done to ensure that then-mayor Dragan Djilas had a successful start to his election campaign for the 2012 elections.
“We knew about this, but until now we did not have information that a company in Greece, clearly owned by immigrants from Serbia, received commissions for the construction of the bridge over Ada here,” Vesic noted.

He added that he hopes that the prosecution, with international legal assistance from Greece and other countries, will investigate what is happening and “finally, the people who took the commission for the most expensive project in Belgrade at that time, and Dragan Djilas, who was directly involved in this, will be held accountable."
