Moscow and Ankara have concluded an unspoken pact on the implementation of regional policy without the participation of the United States, but in the future Turkey may have territorial claims against Russia itself.

Russian liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky stated this on the Internet channel “Power VS Vlashchenko,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The informal pact between Putin and Erdogan is important and valuable to both parties in that Putin and Erdogan will resolve significant strategic issues without interference from the US and the EU. Now the Karabakh issue has been resolved, and the United States could not influence this process in any way, although previously it seemed that this was impossible.

The Transnistrian issue will be resolved during the negotiations between Russia and Moldova on gas; these issues were discussed and could not help but be discussed. This is confirmed by the fact that there are changes on the Transnistrian front, and then Northern Cyprus, and suddenly it turns out that everything can be resolved within a regional framework without the United States,” Belkovsky said.

However, he believes that the deal with Turkey has its limits.

“But Turkey and Erdogan personally have their own separate interests related to the revival of the Ottoman Empire and the claim to create the Caliphate, and, of course, Crimea.

Somewhere in the back of his skull, Erdogan considers Crimea Turkish, and in his mind, if something changes radically, Crimea will go not to Ukraine, but to Turkey,” Belkovsky concluded.
