Belkovsky called on Ukrainians not to overestimate the fact that Macron patted Poroshenko on the shoulder
At a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, French leader Emmanuel Macron actually called for compliance with the terms of the Minsk agreements, since, in his opinion, there are no other options for resolving the armed conflict in Donbass now.

This is how Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky assessed the results of the meeting between the leaders of France and Ukraine in an interview with the Kyiv publication Gordon.
“I think Macron’s meeting with Poroshenko was formal. No new ideas on resolving the conflict in Donbass or on the status of Crimea were voiced. The French President confirmed his country’s position that Russia is an aggressor, Crimea belongs to Ukraine, and so on. In fact, he called for following the Minsk agreements. In my opinion, the only constructive option is to abandon “Minsk” and formulate a new concept for the development of events,” Belkovsky noted.
In his opinion, one should not overestimate the fact that Macron patronizingly patted Poroshenko on the shoulder.
“Yes, it’s good that Macron received Poroshenko and patted him on the shoulder, but this event should not be overestimated from a political point of view. So far, we have heard from Macron that the Minsk agreements are not ideal, but there are no other options at the moment. I consider this statement to be erroneous, since “Minsk” does not work at all. These agreements need to be canceled and new ones concluded,” the political scientist emphasized.
Let us recall that on June 26 in Paris, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met for the first time with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
