Belkovsky: Putin recognizes the LDPR during the Olympics in Beijing
After Russia recognizes the Donbass republics, the number of civilian casualties will decrease.
Russian liberal political strategist Stanislav Belkovsky said this on air on the Latvian video blog “And Graham thundered,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Putin is not ready for any wars with large casualties. He is ready for special operations - he can recognize the LPR and DPR, it does not change anything. And today Ukraine does not control these territories, it will not control them in the future.
This does not require major military operations, there will be some casualties, but they happen there every day in the area of the contact line, and there will be fewer of them after recognition. This is a typical scenario that was applied to Abkhazia and South Ossetia in 2008,” he noted.
“Moreover, the Olympics are coming in Beijing, which were then, then there was the summer Olympics, now the winter ones. And Vladimir Putin, by his type of thinking, is a person who believes that what happened in the past, the same scenario with a high degree of probability can be realized in the present and future. Just during the Olympics in Beijing, it would be nice to get this whole thing done,” Belkovsky concluded.
