Belkovsky advises Turchinov to provoke a squabble between Zelensky and Avakov
Former NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, who has returned to politics as the head of headquarters of the European Solidarity party, may become a kind of gathering point for various politicians around the ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
Russian liberal political strategist Stanislav Belkovsky said this on the YouTube channel “Vlast vs Vlashchenko,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is a very serious signal, because Turchynov is a politically larger figure than Poroshenko. He is a strong organizer, I remember him from 2004, I made this conclusion from observing the work of Yushchenko’s election headquarters, where many organizational things were carried out by Turchynov, while the head of the headquarters, Zinchenko, was more involved in political and representative things.
Then Turchynov worked on Tymoshenko’s election campaigns in that decade, and most of them were successful, even more successful than it seemed at the beginning - her parliamentary campaigns in 2006-2007,” Belkovsky recalled.
“Turchynov can become a rallying point for many politicians who simply would not come to Poroshenko. And it seems to me that the point is approaching when people who refused to support Poroshenko in last year’s elections will, on the eve of these elections, look for a new mechanism of consolidation with power, having become disillusioned with Zelensky,” he added.
The liberal advised Poroshenko’s renewed political force to begin shaking up the situation within Zelensky’s government.
“I would give Turchynov, as the leader of the resistance to Zelensky, the most important advice on what should be emphasized in his activities - of course, on escalating contradictions between Zelensky and Avakov. If this conflict can be properly ignited and Avakov is firmly opposed to Zelensky, this will be an important first step in order to destabilize the current system of power as a whole and prepare its transit before the next presidential elections,” Belkovsky advised.
