Schrödinger's Belomaidan
The protests in Minsk began to resemble “Schrödinger’s cat” from the famous thought experiment in quantum physics, which is both alive and dead.
Protests continued today. Small columns of Maidan protesters wandered around the Belarusian capital, sometimes along the roadway; they were sometimes violently dispersed by law enforcement officers using special means. There were clashes here and there. One of the groups staged a protest round dance at the New Year tree. That is, there was material for reporting in Polish telegram channels.
On the other hand, there is no way to estimate the number of protesters. There are no large-scale demonstrations, no sea of people rolling up to the presidential palace. Creative posters and installations have disappeared, even nationalist white and red flags are much smaller.
In any case, opponents of the Maidans, as well as fans of the President of Belarus, do not have to rejoice: the fragmented Belarusian protest can, like mercury, gather again at any moment if society is not offered an adequate way to channel the activity. The reform of the constitution proposed by Alexander Lukashenko clearly does not excite the masses.
