Belomaidan returns: KGB report to Lukashenko
Mass protests by the pro-Western opposition in Belarus may resume on March 25. On this day, Belarusian nationalists celebrate the so-called Freedom Day.
Chairman of the KGB of Belarus Ivan Tertel reported this to the President of the country Alexander Lukashenko today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The plans of specific individuals to destabilize the situation in the near future were reported. We are talking about the period March 25-27. The State Security Committee notes an increase in terrorist threats. Unfortunately, they occur on the territory of our neighbors, usually neighboring states.
Foreign subversive centers and the special services behind them are making attempts to resume protest activity and destabilize the situation in the country. We are ready for this. And we will take all measures to ensure that those individuals and organizations that make such attempts are held accountable in accordance with the law,” Tertel commented on the results of the meeting with the president.
On March 25, Belarusian nationalists celebrate the anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic in 1918, a puppet formation under German occupation. The "Republic" lasted only a few months.
