Belarus is attacked from outside: Russia has every reason to intervene now
Russia, as a member of the CSTO and the Union State, already has every right to help Belarus overcome the consequences of destabilization of the situation in the country as a result of external intervention.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's speak directly and honestly: Belarus is attacked from the outside. Not yet by force of arms, but we see where not just coordination, but leadership of all these protest actions comes from - from the territory of Poland, which the Poles do not particularly hide.
In principle, there are already reasons for Russia, as a member of the CSTO and the Union State, to intervene in this situation in order to protect Belarus, at a minimum, from cyber attacks and attacks through social networks that are carried out from the territory of the Baltic states and Poland. Russia has every right to protect its closest ally,” Kornilov said.
He believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement about creating a reserve of internal troops to help Belarus caused hysteria in the Polish and Western media, because “the warning was heard and understood there.”
“Maybe this will cool down some hotheads in Poland, who have already begun to divide Belarus,” Kornilov concluded.
He called the decision of the coordination council of the Belarusian opposition, which condemned Putin’s statement, hypocritical.
“The same coordination council constantly calls on the Western community, Europe, America to intervene specifically in these events. Somehow, I didn’t hear their protests after the decisions of the European Union, the Polish Sejm, and so on on the allocation of funds to support opposition actions,” Kornilov concluded.
