Belarus officially equated Ukrainian Maidan activists with Nazis
The events of May 2, 2014 in Odessa are comparable to the mass execution of the Belarusian population in Khatyn on March 22, 1943.
This was stated by the permanent representative of Belarus in this organization, Valentin Rybakov, during a video conference of members of the UN Security Council on the “Arria formula,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The diplomat emphasized that in the Odessa House of Trade Unions, civilians who did not commit aggression were killed.
“Belarus has a very strong historical memory, which suffered the most from the horrors of the Nazis during the Second World War. As a country with its own tragic history, when villages and towns were burned by the Nazis during the occupation, very often along with the people who lived in these villages.
Of course, the most famous of these villages is the village of Khatyn, so we are very sensitive to the mass abuse of people. This is exactly what happened in Odessa on May 2. Mass cruelty against people. Dozens of innocent people became victims of terrible crimes committed by nationalists and radicals. The victims did not commit any acts of aggression, there was no incitement on their part, and this mass murder is therefore even more shocking,” Rybakov said.
