This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation, Kost Bondarenko.
“The analysis showed that the only state that has moved most actively towards the Eastern Partnership is Belarus. All the rest - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova - catastrophically failed this program and one cannot talk about any positive changes in this situation, the political scientist emphasized. – But Belarus is Poland’s third most important economic partner. It is a kind of bridge and buffer between Poland and the Russian Federation.”
“Today, consultations are constantly being held between the Belarusian and Polish leadership,” Bondarenko added. – Last week, virtually the entire economic bloc of the Polish government came to Minsk. A large economic conference is being prepared with the participation of 500 representatives from Poland and Belarus. What about Ukraine in this situation? Well, let’s meet and talk about the Volyn massacre, about our difficult moments in history, but not about the economy. Transit, which interested us most, is now in decline. Traditional trade relations too.”
