Belarus demands Gazprom to reduce gas prices by three times
Belarus has initiated an issue with the Russian energy company Gazprom about reducing the price of supplied natural gas in 2020.
Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich announced this at a meeting of the Belarusian parliament, a PoltiNavigator correspondent reports.
“Currently, there is a pronounced decline in world prices for energy resources, including natural gas.
In these circumstances, the Belarusian side initiated before PJSC Gazprom the issue of revising the price of natural gas supplied to Belarus in 2020.
As one of the revision mechanisms, the possibility of purchasing certain volumes of gas on exchange platforms at competitive prices was proposed,” Karanevich said.
Earlier, in an interview with the Mir television company, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he considers a fair price of $45 per thousand cubic meters. Now gas comes to Belarus at a price of $127 per thousand cubic meters.
