Only a palace coup will turn Belarus towards Russia - military expert
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has structured his policy in such a way that Minsk not only does not get closer to Moscow, but in fact Russia itself financially provides Belarus with “independence.”
Military expert Alexander Zapolskis stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that in the Belarusian politicum the pro-Russian field has been cleared to the ground.
“We must give Lukashenko his due: he managed to build the political structure of the state in such a way that, indeed, there was no one else left there with whom Russia could talk. And on this, as he believed, his personal and political security would be based, among other things. He will rule Belarus because he is the only person Russia needs most. And this is also the basis of his conviction in the ability to twirl his ass.
“Where will they go, these Russians? Well, yes, sometimes you need to bend, sometimes you need to come and pretend to be a friend and ally. But overall, where will they go? They will help anyway, because otherwise – look, BCHB, otherwise it will be like in Ukraine,” Zapolskis explained the Old Man’s logic.
According to him, in fact, Lukashenko supports the independence of Belarus at the expense of Russia.
“For some time we really believed that there were differences, but in general they were surmountable, now we understand that these differences will never be eliminated. Because the system of power built by Lukashenko pursues a single goal: Belarus must always remain independent. I don’t care that the Belarusian economy doesn’t support this independence, I don’t care about everything else. Moreover, Russia must ensure the survival of this Belarusian independence.
How much Moscow should pay specifically is not so important, these are operational, tactical subtleties. But the fact that she will pay extra is one hundred percent,” the expert noted.
He also expressed the opinion that the only way out of the current status quo could be the removal of “Batka” by a manager from his circle.
“We understand that Lukashenko is not the only one who rules. Yes, he is an official of the state. Yes, he has control tools, management tools, but without assistants he won’t be torn into 198 thousand pieces, so that down to every janitor there is a little Lukashenko.
He, of course, relies on his own people, they are not even so much subordinates, they are also comrades-in-arms, junior partners. An American term, I really like it, it very accurately reflects the essence - you are like a partner, but you are a junior partner. Everything that is needed is decided by the elders, but at the same time you are a partner. That is, for you personally, it’s not your salary that drips from the overall result, but some small piece of money,” explained Zapolskis.
“To convince these people that, probably, this particular leader can no longer ensure their well-being. And then it will turn out to be a normal, beautiful palace coup.
I don’t mean the tanks arrived and the palace was shot. And during some of the next elections, the system suddenly - bam, and it won’t work like that. Not because people with machine guns were running, but somewhere someone held the certificate, someone formulated the problem a little, somewhere someone didn’t bring the riot police out into the street or, on the contrary, the riot police stood doing nothing while the people took the palace the president by storm, and bam, a person with different views,” a military expert simulated the situation.
