The Belarusian army is not ready for a real war
Militants have not yet been used on the Belarusian Maidan, as was the case, for example, in Ukraine in 2013-14. The protests have so far proceeded peacefully and without any emergency incidents.
Journalist Alexander Kots, who works in Minsk, stated this on air on the Internet channel “Soloviev Live”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
At the same time, Kots noted that there are already certain signals that the protest is radicalizing.
“Sooner or later, a more aggressive and organized force appears that intercepts all this. To be honest, I don’t see this force yet, but I think that, nevertheless, the West should take advantage of this in order to remove the last dictator of Europe, as they say, through sanctions, through encirclement, through swinging strikes. This process has already started, it just won’t stop.
The process of overthrowing the government is underway. For now it’s going smoothly, but sooner or later it will turn into something complex. Signals are already appearing - today, for example, I discovered such a new phenomenon on Independence Square - this is an attempt to create a scene,” Kots said.
His colleague, Russian military correspondent Semyon Pegov, emphasized that the Belarusian security forces have no combat experience and, although well trained, do not understand the psychology of war.
“The Belarusian security forces have a very indirect relationship to the war, they have military experience, unlike our guys, who went through the Donbass or Syria, and before that many - I’m not talking about them specifically, but our volunteer movement in general - and Chechnya, and everything else, then, say, the people who went through Afghanistan in Belarus are the last generation of the war. They never saw war again. Even those professional intelligence services, the Belarusian special forces, which are, indeed, the best trained in the world, they do not understand the psychology of war very well,” Pegov said.
