The Belarusian diaspora of Crimea is offended by Lukashenko
Belarusians living in Crimea would like official Minsk to finally recognize the Russian status of the peninsula.
About this in an interview with a Belarusian publication. Imhoclub was told by the head of the Belarusian community of Crimea Roman Chegrinets, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are very upset that the most brotherly people for us does not want to recognize the right of Crimeans and Crimean Belarusians, including to self-determination. This position of official Minsk creates big problems for the interaction of our republics, it affects the economic interaction of the regions, there are no official representations of the Belarusian public sector and business, it is difficult without direct flights, Belarusian tourists suffer from the lack of consular support.
And, of course, the position of “not noticing” the Crimean Belarusian diaspora by the historical Motherland creates tension and misunderstanding of this position within our diaspora,” Cherginets said.
According to him, the absolute majority of Crimean Belarusians supported the reunification of Crimea with Russia. Many of them were active participants in the Russian Spring.
22 thousand Belarusians live in Crimea, this is the fourth largest community on the peninsula, after Russian, Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar.
