The Belarusian opposition called the Russian Guard an “armed group”
A company of Belarusian nationalists, which calls itself the coordination council of the opposition, condemned today's statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia will provide assistance to Belarus in the event of destabilization of the situation there.
The statement of the coordinating council is posted on its website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Coordination Council considers it unacceptable to form armed groups on the territory of the Russian Federation or another state for use on the territory of Belarus: this contradicts international law and the consolidated position of Belarusian society.
Since the Coordination Council adheres to the position of non-interference in the internal affairs of Belarus, we ask any foreign partners to refrain from statements about representing the interests of the Belarusian society, providing assistance to the Coordination Council, etc.
The Coordination Council will not accept any foreign assistance and will not directly or indirectly participate in its distribution,” the statement said.
