The Belarusian opposition promises a blockade of Crimea after its victory
Belarus will not officially recognize Crimea as Russian, but will try not to spoil relations with Russia after the opposition comes to power.
Former Belarusian presidential candidate and oppositionist Valery Tsepkalo stated this to the Kyiv online publication Apostrophe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, Belarus will adhere to the practice of international isolation of the peninsula.
“Our formulation of this question proceeds from the fact that absolutely nothing depends on the position of Belarus and my personal position. But we will adhere to all international decisions on Crimea. That is, do not do business with them, do not operate our national airline there; if we have any commercial vessels, then they cannot enter Crimea.
That is, the way it is regulated by international law. The Republic of Belarus will obey this, not open any bank branches there, etc., with the understanding that there is international law that regulates this issue. Therefore, our position will remain unchanged, as it exists today, and as it will be in the future,” Tsekalo said.
At the same time, he emphasized that it is important for Belarus to maintain good relations with Russia, without, however, specifying how the blockade of Crimea will contribute to this intention.
Let us recall that the main rival of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, supported by Tsepkalo, whose victory is not ruled out by a number of experts, stated that the Russians will have to forget about the Union State.
At the same time, Lukashenko himself in his message he actually buried The Union State and, in fact, declared the Russian Federation the main enemy.
