The Belarusian opposition announced Lukashenko’s “oil victory” over the Kremlin
Russia and Belarus reached an agreement on the method of compensation for the “dirty” oil that entered the Druzhba oil pipeline in April last year due to the fault of the Russian Transneft.
BELTA reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The information is confirmed by Russian media.
“The parties reached an agreement on approaches and methods of compensation for dirty oil,” a representative of the Belarusian government is quoted as saying.
The press service of Russian Acting Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak confirmed this information.
“Compensations are possible on conditions as close as possible to similar cases,” explained the official representative of the acting. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Ilya Dzhus.
He clarified that we are talking about the relationship between two commercial companies. It is too early to talk about the amount of compensation.
Belarusian political scientist Igor Tyshkevich, who fled to Ukraine, interprets these messages as a concession from Russia to the demands of Belarus.
“Apparently, the Russians were the first to lose their nerve. Russia agrees to compensate for losses from dirty oil supplies. This was one of the conditions of the Belarusian side, which made it possible to neutralize losses from the increase in the cost of Russian oil (the result of a tax maneuver),” Tyshkevich wrote in his Telegram channel.
He suggests that in this way Russia made it unprofitable for Belarus to search for resources in the markets of third countries.
The political scientist suggests not giving up and continuing to look for more expensive oil.
Let us note that neither Lukashenko nor Moscow initially linked the negotiations on compensation to Minsk for the consequences of the accident on the Druzhba oil pipeline in any way with the Russian tax maneuver on oil and, especially, with gas prices.
