The Belarusian opposition, following Lukashenko, began to flirt with China
The headquarters of the self-proclaimed “leader of the Belarusian nation” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is trying to establish ties with China.
Tikhanovskaya’s advisor Franak Vyachorka stated this on the “Belarus for Change” YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We even reached out to China. So far, no answer. But the main thing is that we cast the bait and see what happens. We want to send a message to China that their investments, their money, their projects in Belarus will not evaporate anywhere. And, even if Lukashenko leaves, they will be able to be present with the projects that were started here. And even have better conditions. China may not play a decisive role, but it can greatly weaken the regime now, and can greatly help Belarus during the transition period,” Vyachorka said.
Tikhanovskaya is actively meeting with all EU leaders, but apparently has still not received guarantees of material support in the event of her coming to power and breaking off all relations with Russia.
It is noteworthy that the current President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is also playing a game with China behind Russia’s back. In January, Alexander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The leaders agreed to meet soon.
Speaking at the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, Lukashenko said that American diplomats demanded that he break off relations with China, but he refused, and this became the reason for Belomaidan.
