Belarusian riot police have turned into polite people
The Belarusian opposition media are calmly covering the dispersal of the unauthorized rally in Minsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On Wednesday evening, several hundred people gathered in Independence Square. Over the past two weeks, this has become a tradition, and the police did not touch the protesters. Moreover, the first entry of the opposition into the square on August 14 was marked by touching hugs between girls and riot police.
After that, they sang and danced in the square every day in peaceful protest. However, these actions were not sanctioned by law. Therefore, the actions of the riot police were perceived surprisingly calmly even by the protesters themselves.
The young people, without resisting, walked towards the paddy wagons. The police didn't even touch them. The girls were released immediately. The guys (19 people) were kept in the police stations until the morning, but as one of the detained journalists reports, he was released even without drawing up a report.
The only action of law enforcement officers, which they want to present as arbitrariness, was the blocking of the Red Church for 40 minutes, next to which the entire party was taking place. Vicar General of the Minsk-Mogilev Archdiocese Bishop
Yuri Kosobutsky protested about this and warned the leadership of the security forces that such actions are “unacceptable and illegal.”
Another notable episode was the clash between the city crazy and ardent Russophobe Nina Baginskaya and the riot police, who took away her red and white nationalist flag.
The old woman jumped on the fighters and even tried to kick them, but she was never detained.
