Belarusian border guards prevented a Turkmen woman from being illegally smuggled into Ukraine in a bag
Belarusian border guards detained a citizen of Turkmenistan at the Veselovka checkpoint who was trying to take a girl hidden in the trunk to Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As reported on the website of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the incident occurred on the afternoon of January 3. Gomel border guards discovered the violator while inspecting a Russian-registered VAZ car.
“During the inspection of the trunk of the vehicle together with a customs officer, their attention was attracted by a large shopping bag that showed signs of “life.” A 22-year-old citizen of Turkmenistan was found in it, who, with the help of her compatriot, hoped to cross the border in this way,” the report notes.
It is noted that immigrants from Central Asia were detained and placed during the investigation in the temporary detention center of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee. An administrative process has been initiated for attempted illegal crossing.
