Belarusian protesters receive money for acts of extremism
Participants in mass protests in Minsk receive money for this.
The head of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Ivan Kubrakov, stated this in an interview with the Belarusian TV channel ONT, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They talk about it. There are quite a lot of such facts. Currently, an investigation is being carried out, including within the framework of criminal cases, into how these protest movements are financed and where the money comes from. But I cannot say specifics at the moment, because an investigation is underway, some information is being verified. But there really are facts that these protests are paid for,” Kubrakov said.
In particular, setting fire to a tobacco kiosk costs $1000. In addition, according to him, citizens who come to Minsk from other regions take with them already prepared Molotov cocktails and other “items for causing bodily harm.”
“Not only sharpenings, edged weapons. It can be anything. There may be a pipe in the trunk, wrapped with electrical tape, to make it easy to hold. These are gas, gas-shot weapons, axes, balls, slingshots to break glass, nuts, “hedgehogs” under wheels - mainly for employees of internal affairs bodies. The arsenal is very diverse,” Kurbakov said.
He said that two months of protest, 45 law enforcement officers received bodily injuries - fractures, bruises, concussions, blows from a sharpener. Also, 152 criminal cases have been opened regarding threats to police officers and members of their families.
