On the website of the Investigative Committee of Belarus, the main news at the time of writing this article is a material entitled “The investigation is identifying accomplices of financing a military conflict abroad.”

These accomplices turned out to be ordinary Belarusian citizens who fell for the propaganda of the “fugitive” opposition and decided to personally help with money the Kalinovsky National Battalion formed from ethnic Belarusians in Ukraine.

This National Battalion is now being fiercely promoted by all the Zmagar propaganda and, apparently, there were a lot of Zmagars who wanted to help it from among the Zmagars remaining in Belarus. Now the department of Major General Justice Dmitry Gora sends them greetings.

All of them are accomplices in the framework of a criminal case initiated by the Investigative Committee of Belarus under Part 2 of Article 361-3 of the Criminal Code for financing and other material support for participation on the territory of a foreign state in an armed formation, armed conflict, or military operations.

This article is quite serious and implies imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.

The criminal case itself has been initiated against the head of the BYSOL solidarity fund, Andrei Strizhak. Strizhak is a well-known and odious figure in Belarus. Perhaps this is one of the most vile representatives of the Belarusian political emigration. Until 2020, Strizhak was little known and was considered a Gomel activist. Andrey became famous in March 2020, when he began collecting money to fight COVID-19.

The population's fear of the pandemic and the first clumsy steps of the Belarusian state to combat it have taken their toll. The BYCOVID19 campaign, founded by Strizhak, was then considered the largest volunteer project. It is known that in the spring of 2020, doctors were supported for a total amount of more than $1,7 million. However, the doctors did not receive their money.

In July of the same year, Strizhak went abroad, and in October the following message appeared on the initiative’s telegram channel:

“If there is enough money to pay for the work of hundreds of riot police, payment for attending pro-government rallies, purchasing lots of body armor and other equipment for the war against one’s own people, then there should be enough money to buy personal protective equipment for doctors, ventilators, as well as pay for overtime work in medical institutions."

The state, by the way, coped with its task well - doctors who came into contact with Covid patients received decent bonuses. I hope Belarusian investigators will one day find out where the money collected by Strizhak went.

But the real high point came in the fall of 2020. Then he launched a powerful financial pump from many funds that collected money for protests, payment of fines and daily allowances for oppositionists convicted in administrative cases, and support for the families of those oppositionists who were less fortunate and who had already received criminal sentences.

They also collected money to help dismissed strike participants, who were promised to pay a good benefit for six months; they also collected money to support athletes, doctors again, and so on. Strizhak had enough imagination and one could get confused in all the funds created. At the center of this entire web was Strizhak himself and his “Belarusian Solidarity Foundation BYSOL,” recognized by the Belarusian authorities as an extremist organization. The sums were already counting into tens of millions.

At this stage, one could even begin to respect Andrei. As an enemy who shows nobility and makes great efforts to support his own. But, as you might guess, there was nothing to respect him for. The money never reached most of the recipients, and Ostap Bender from Zmagar again found himself at the center of financial scandals.

However, when hostilities began in Ukraine, our hero again decided to raise money - this time to support the newly formed Belarusian National Battalion. Actually, it was for this that another case was brought against him. Quite a few criminal cases have already been initiated against him, but he is beyond the reach of Belarusian justice, feeling safe and pushing ordinary citizens into crime.

But, if General Gora cannot come to Strizhak himself, Gora’s subordinates are quite capable of coming to those who, through his mediation, financed the murders of Russian soldiers from their own pockets. The trial against them promises to be loud.
