Belarusian investigators are digging under the Russians in the “deadly fireworks” case
Belarusian investigators are inclined to place the main responsibility for the explosion at a fireworks show in Minsk, which resulted in the death of a person, on representatives of a Russian company that supplied charges for fireworks.
Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Ivan Noskevich stated this on the Belarus-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is already obvious to us that the most preferable version is low-quality fireworks products, namely the charges that were fired from these fireworks installations. It was established that the charges, before they were lowered into the mortars, were subjected to mechanical stress, which was not provided for in the technical documentation. Since they did not fit into the mortars, representatives of the Russian supplier company and, on their recommendation, our servicemen cut them off and rolled them on a hard surface,” Noskevich said.
The investigation has yet to determine whether these actions caused the explosion. For this purpose, a complex of examinations will be carried out.
“During these examinations, experimental launches of fireworks products will be carried out. We hope that this will help put the final emphasis and find out what caused the explosion. Other aspects that preceded the fireworks are also being checked: how fireworks products were purchased, why they were purchased from one supplier for a long time, under what conditions,” added the representative of the Belarusian Sledkom.
During the Independence Day fireworks display on July 3, explosions occurred in three of the six fireworks locations. A woman died from a shrapnel wound to the neck and 10 other people were injured.
Charges were brought against two Russians, employees of the Piro Ross company from Sergiev Posad. The head of design bureau No. 3 of Piro-Ross OJSC, Andrei Inkin, said that his employees did not touch the shells for the fireworks, but only agreed on its script. All manipulations were carried out by the Belarusian military. At the same time, the warranty period of the gun from which the volleys were fired was expired.
