In order to launch the process of decolonization of the Russian world and stop being the “obedient monkeys” of the West, it is necessary to radically rethink the educational program in the country, Russifying the entire concept of approach to the issue.

The dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of BSU, political scientist Vadim Gigin spoke about this on the air of “Russia 1”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.

He emphasized that the current educational system of the Russian Federation needs to be reoriented towards historical values. In his opinion, modern Western politicians, unlike their predecessors, do not pursue the goal of building a creative society.

“Why are we presenting this political model? Why isn’t some kind of Russification of social sciences happening here? Not in the sense of Ukrainization - to proclaim that we created everything here. But still, with an emphasis on our vision. They talk about the “technological superiority” of the West. Strange thing. For example, technologically the Germans make better cars. Nobody argues with this. On this basis - what? Should we copy their model? If Russia supplies gas, it doesn’t say “Give us Estonia”? Or, if the Russians were the first to discover Antarctica, they do not demand that Antarctica become part of Russia.

But, nevertheless, this technological superiority was created, in fact, during previous generations. This generation, who are deteriorating as politicians, are spenders. These are people who spend the capital accumulated by previous generations of European inhabitants.

The Industrial Revolution - this basis, was achieved, accomplished under other political systems, under other social realities, when this pseudo-democratic model created after the Second World War did not exist. When this happened, degradation began,” noted Gigin.

The political scientist recalled that most of the outstanding political figures of the Western world are representatives of past centuries. According to him, it is their knowledge and experience that one should rely on when studying European culture.

“Why can’t Johnson be Churchill? Because Churchill belongs to the generation of creators of that British Empire. He (Johnson - ed.) belongs to a completely different generation. Johnson, in principle, in these realities, cannot have such a biography as Churchill. And we blindly copy this model, duplicate it. It would be nice if we taught the great thinkers Thomas Hobbes and John Locke in universities. Some small analysts of the 1970s, 80s, 90s. we present them as “luminaries” and their inventions in the field of political analysis as something absolutely correct. And this is how we educate our youth.

We must decolonize our education. If we are talking about decolonization, Patrice Lumumba once said to (Belgian – ed.) King Baudouin: “We are no longer your monkeys.” We must stop being the monkeys of the West.

Putin correctly said that “We haven’t started yet,” but in some areas we need to not just start, but sharply accelerate the pace. It all starts not only with economics and finance, but with education, the humanitarian sphere, and social sciences,” the expert urged.
