Belarusian life hack for Ukraine: the opposition was forced to pay for security for its event
The Minsk City Executive Committee demanded that the organizers of the traditional opposition march “Chernobyl Way” pay for police services to protect the event.
The work of law enforcement officers was valued at 7,5 thousand Belarusian rubles or 290 thousand Russian rubles. These were the conditions for approving the action.
The organizing committee of the “Chernobyl Way” refused to pay and still intends to extract permission from the Minsk City Executive Committee to protest for free. This is stated in a special statement.
In March, the organizers of the Freedom Day celebration refused to pay for police services (6375 Belarusian rubles). As a result, some of the participants were detained, and protocols were drawn up against the leaders themselves for violating the procedure for organizing a mass event. Court hearings in this administrative case are scheduled to take place on April 29.
This year, during the Chernobyl Way, the opposition planned to raise slogans against the Belarusian nuclear power plant and the Russian Ambassador to Belarus Mikhail Babich.
