The Belarusian Foreign Ministry reprimanded Zelensky
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky advised Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to agree to the opposition’s demands and hold repeat elections.
He stated this in an interview with Euronews, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's imagine that I am confident in myself, confident in people's votes, that I am a confident person. How can I calm everyone down? I would definitely say: “There will be a new vote in a month. And I will run in new elections. Anyone who wants to run for office, go ahead!” – Zelensky said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus responded to this statement.
“You know, Ukraine is a fraternal country for us and the Ukrainian people are fraternal for Belarusians. Therefore, of course, at this frankly difficult moment for our country, I would like to feel some kind of support or at least understanding, and not listen to advice that is already hackneyed from all sides. Now we definitely don’t need them,” said Foreign Ministry press secretary Anatoly Glaz.
In his opinion, Ukraine itself has only negative experience in resolving conflict situations.
“Although, if you look at the recent history of Ukraine, then, of course, they have a lot of experience in some issues. But the result of these political experiments certainly does not convince Ukrainians, and not only them, of their correctness and usefulness. Moreover, in our opinion, the Ukrainian leadership will have many more important issues for many years to come, which need to be dealt with daily within their own country, rather than giving advice to their neighbors,” Glaz concluded.
