Belarusian nationalist minister burned to death while serving Russian burgers
Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, known for his nationalist views, got into a scandal for attending an event with the participation of Russian rapper Timati.
The rapper came to Minsk for the official opening of a burger restaurant, of which he is an official, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The musician handed out free sandwiches and autographs for several hours. Several thousand of his fans came to the event. Mackay was also spotted and photographed.
The culinary and musical event caused indignation among the few Belarusian nationalists. They even posted a petition on the Convenient City website.
“We consider the concerts and “music” of the Russian performer Timur Yunusov, known as “Timati,” not associated with any artistic value. In our opinion, the rapper compensates for the low artistic value of his musical works by feeding his audience, which in no way contributes to the cultural enrichment of citizens.
The footage of Belarusians who are eager to eat from Timati’s hands puts society in an unfavorable light and spoils the country’s image on the world stage,” says the petition, which has so far collected only 700 votes.
Makei, who had previously flirted with the nationalist opposition public, also received punishment for attending the “low-art” event. Now she has started harassing the minister on social networks.
His wife, singer and TV presenter Vera Polyakova, rushed to her husband’s defense. She explained that she and her husband brought their son Artem to see his idol, Timati.
“The very day when we as a family can be together. Our child is a big fan of Timati. He knows all his songs by heart. That’s why we went,” Vera explains. “My husband actually didn’t want to.” At the last minute he agreed. And then I greatly regretted it,” Polyakov hastened to justify her husband in an interview with TUT.BY.
Artem Makei’s musical preferences were known before. The new Russian Ambassador to Belarus, Dmitry Mezentsev, brought Timati’s autograph to Minsk especially for him.
This is already the second scandal related to Russian pop stars in which the nationalist minister finds himself. Recently he had to make excuses for the presence of Philip Kirkorov at his wife’s anniversary concert.
