Belarusian oppositionist: Our country cannot live without Russia
Belarusian enterprises will not be able to compete with Russia if world prices for energy resources are set for them.
Belarusian opposition politician Alexander Skurchaev stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Skurchaev, Belarus has no development path without Russia.
“If we have a world price for oil and gas, and we produce our products at the same costs, we will not be able to compete with the Russians at all and under no circumstances. And our way to Europe is simply barred, because we are technologically super behind them. I say that now we are where we are, in our situation - where we could take different steps, build different management.
We could have spent the money we received from Russia free of charge in some other way. But we are where we are. I believe that for us now there is simply no other way - namely, to negotiate with Russia in order to be able to enter the Russian market and thus we will get some kind of loophole in order to modernize our production,” Skurchaev said.
