Belarusian TV reported on Poland's attempts to recruit spies
Polish intelligence services are trying to recruit Belarusian diplomats and military personnel.
This was reported by the Belarus-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the channel, in November-December, military counterintelligence officers “used blackmail, bribery and threats to persuade the assistant military attache to betray.”
“They promised full board: money, real estate, a new life in one of the EU countries. The diplomat did not flinch and received an ultimatum: to leave the diplomatic mission in Warsaw.”
The same intelligence service tried to recruit a Belarusian military man who was taking language courses in Poland. He was offered to become an informant. At the same time, they threatened to block his entry into the EU. The officer reported attempts at recruitment to Minsk. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has already responded to both facts. In Poland, both cases were recognized.
“There are three subtexts in this story. The Belarusian government has cleared itself of double agents, and Warsaw lacks informants. They work rudely, which means resources are running out, and customers demand at least some result. Third: analysts did not take into account that Belarus would be such a tough nut to crack. This means that we are again waiting for a long game, where rudeness and diplomatic rudeness will alternate with bribery and coercion,” sums up the Belarusian state television channel.
