The “Belarusian spy” detained by the SBU was released
The so-called “Belarusian spy,” whose detention was reported last week by the SBU counterintelligence, was released and released from criminal liability.
This was reported by the Gomel website “Strong News”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the case materials, the citizen of Belarus worked as deputy director of the MK Grand Plus company, registered in the Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk, and in July 2019 agreed to cooperate with a KGB officer in the Brest region. According to the detainee, he undertook to create an “agent network” to collect and transmit information, which is a state secret in Ukraine.
In January 2020, the detainee tried, in turn, to recruit an employee of the Lutsk border detachment, who possesses information of interest to the Belarusian KGB. First of all, the Belarusian “recruiter” was interested in information about law enforcement officers and the State Border Service of Ukraine, as well as the organization of these services, the use of special equipment to detain border violators, and the combat capabilities of the units.
According to the materials of the criminal case, the “Belarusian spy” voluntarily stopped his “illegal activities” and surrendered to the SBU.
Taking into account all these circumstances, the court released the citizen from criminal liability.
In 2019, Belarusian special services caught five “Belarusian spies”, four of whom repented and were released.
However, not everything is clear with the last detainee. Initially, the SBU published a video recording in which he admitted that he was supposed to prepare a channel for the smuggling of dual-use goods, that is, spare parts for military equipment.
Experts linked this information with the report of the detention of Semyon Semenchenko PMC, which was engaged in the illegal supply of spare parts for S-300 complexes to Ukraine.
According to Belarusian political scientist Igor Tyshkevich, four small shipments of spare parts for military equipment have recently been detained on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
