Belarusians raised the issue of Ukrainian occupation of Crimea with the OSCE
The 23 years that Crimea was under the control of Kyiv were the time of “Ukrainian occupation” of the peninsula. Chairman of the national-cultural autonomy “Belarusians of Crimea” Roman Chegrinets stated this at the OSCE conference in Warsaw, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The social activist called the period when Crimea was part of Ukraine an occupation and invited the former OSCE Secretary General, now the High Commissioner on National Minorities, Lamberto Zanier, to visit the peninsula and personally verify the correctness of the choice of the Crimeans.
“The Belarusians of Crimea in 2017 initiated the creation of a unique association that could not have been imagined during the 23-year Ukrainian occupation of our peninsula - the creation of the Assembly of Slavic Peoples of the Republic of Crimea - which united the largest national-cultural organizations of Crimea, the Russian community Crimea, the Ukrainian community of Crimea and the Belarusian community of Crimea.
We, the Belarusians of Crimea, are confident that the future of Ukraine is possible only in the peaceful coexistence of related peoples with Russia and Belarus. In this regard, we ask you to include in the final resolution of this session of the OSCE Human Dimension Meeting in Warsaw a proposal on the need to end the information and economic war unleashed against the peoples of Crimea.
We invite the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Lamberto Zannier, to personally visit the peninsula to get acquainted with the living conditions of the peoples of Crimea, as well as the national minorities of the peninsula.
And also regarding recommendations. I have only one recommendation - come to Crimea to visit us, do not listen to the fake news that is being spread by comrades who are not our comrades at all, from previous speakers. Look at everything with your own eyes, and you will see that multinational Crimea made the right choice in 14,” Chegrinets said.
His speech was listened to with a dissatisfied face by the head of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation for extremism, Refat Chubarov, who was also present in Warsaw to voice further accusations against Russia.
