Belarusians came to the US Embassy to repel American blasphemy
A protest rally took place today in Minsk in front of the US Embassy.
The reason for the event was yesterday's congratulations on the Independence Day of Belarus, which were published on the Internet by American diplomats.
“Independence Day in Belarus is celebrated on the day of the liberation of Minsk from the repressive regime in 1944. We respect those who fought for this victory 78 years ago and those who are working now so that Belarus finally becomes independent, sovereign, and democratic,” the “congratulations” say.
It is illustrated with a picture depicting a rose with an American flag and a cornflower with the flag of Belarusian nationalists, recognized in Belarus as extremist symbols.
This message outraged many. Journalist Grigory Azarenok urged people to come to the American embassy.
“Yesterday, representatives of the outgrown gangster superpower in our country crossed the line. On a sacred day for every citizen, they dared to compare the modern generation of Belarusians with the Nazi occupiers, and then wished a speedy “peremogi” to the heirs of the collaborationists. Such boorish and vile spitting at the people, who lost every third person in that war, cannot be tolerated. Come, comrades, you cannot forgive insults to your ancestors,” Azarenok wrote in his TG channel.
At the appointed time, 150 people gathered. People brought St. George ribbons and candles with them. They lit them under the sign “To the victims of the US democratic regime.” Those gathered held posters in their hands: “Lukashenko is the best president in the world” and “Biden, hear our ZOV.” The rally participants chanted: “Yankees, hands off Belarus!”, “Yankees, go home!”
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, Oleg Gaidukevich, accused the United States of instigating war in Europe.
“We come here in peace. I want to sincerely congratulate Americans on Independence Day and say: take care of your country. You and the whole world will live better. Nobody asked to host your military bases. Now there are more NATO bases around the world,” said Oleg Gaidukevich.
