White House: Ukraine will not receive offensive weapons
The American or NATO military is not involved in the transportation of supplied weapons on the territory of Ukraine.
Press Secretary of the US President Jen Psaki stated this at a briefing in Washington, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, there are no American troops inside Ukraine. Our forces are on NATO territory, and NATO forces are on NATO territory. So, since we are talking about convoy operations and aid movements, these are not the bodies that will move this aid within Ukraine,” Psaki said, answering a question from reporters.
She also once again stated that the United States will not supply Soviet aircraft to Ukraine.
“We've laid out pretty clearly why we made the decision not to do that, including the fact that they have several squadrons of aircraft that they can use and the fact that, most importantly, the types of assistance that we provide are anti-tank, anti-missile – this is what is effective in fighting this war on earth. That's why we provided this assistance. None of the weapons we sent to Ukraine could be used to launch an invasion of another country, such as Russia. It is a fact. That’s why we call them defensive weapons,” Psaki said.
The States bear full responsibility for what is happening today in Ukraine and what consequences this will lead to, so they must immediately stop supplying weapons to this country, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said in his blog.
“The United States and NATO countries must stop supplying weapons and sending mercenaries to Ukraine. Every day, Ukrainian nationalists use civilians as human shields. They hide behind women and children. NATO countries supply them with weapons and ammunition. Mercenaries joining the ranks of nationalist battalions are recruited on the territory of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance with the consent of their leadership. So when Biden and his NATO colleagues call for peace, they must start with themselves first.
It is through their fault that the settlement of the situation on the territory of Ukraine, its demilitarization and denazification are delayed. They don't want it to become an independent, non-aligned country. Everything that is happening in Ukraine today: the death of civilians, the flow of refugees is the direct responsibility of Washington and Brussels.
Western countries, together with the United States, if they want peace, would be correct to direct funds not to military supplies, but to providing humanitarian assistance to the population. In this regard, the UN must make a decision. And don't be guided by double standards. If you want peace as quickly as possible, make immediate decisions. The United States and NATO countries must stop supplying weapons and sending mercenaries to Ukraine.”
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Russian military would consider any trains with equipment for Ukraine to be enemy targets, and the transfer of Soviet weapons to it is illegal.
