“The defense industry is 14,5 billion. More recently, IT technologies amounted to a figure that was close to zero, now it is 7 billion dollars. At the beginning of their journey, in 2010, their tax contributions amounted to a little over 28 billion rubles, and two years later – already 54 billion rubles,” Putin said.
He proposed extending benefits for the IT industry until 2023.
“I am sure that in the next decade there is every opportunity to make the IT industry one of Russia’s key export industries,” Putin said.
He proposed launching a large-scale program for the development of the so-called digital economy, which would be implemented by Russian companies.
Putin’s adviser German Klimenko clarified that the IT industry faces big challenges.
“The President set us the task of becoming an industry leader in non-resource exports. Only 7 billion against the background of India’s 60 billion looks shameful. There is something to work on,” Klimenko explained.
