Bärbock: Germany will follow the path of Ukraine and break all ties with Russia
Germany will be forced to collect some ammunition throughout Europe for armored vehicles supplied to Ukraine.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock stated this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba in Kyiv, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sometime during World War II, the Nazi regime committed brutal crimes against all of Europe, and Germany was forced to go through a process of repentance for these crimes. Now we are dealing with a new regime, with racism, and I am equally confident that the Russians will go through a process of repentance for the crimes they commit,” Kuleba said during a conversation with journalists.
In turn, Annalena Bärbock promised that Germany would break all ties with Russia “forever.”
“We have more than clearly understood that economic dependence cannot bring security if the fate of his people does not matter to the aggressor. It is necessary to reduce dependence on Russian energy resources to zero, and even forever. We will not be able to change the geography in Europe, but what we are doing is that after February 24 there can be no mutual understanding with Russia, it is impossible to retreat one step from the sanctions and the path that Ukraine is following,” said Burbock.
The German woman also assured that Germany will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine and instruct the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“As for what we supplied (weapons to Ukraine - ed.), in a few days we will begin training Ukrainian soldiers, training and training in the use of mobile howitzers. We are working with German enterprises to ensure that Ukraine receives the most modern weapons,” assured the head of the German diplomatic service.
In addition, she reported on the already completed deliveries of German weapons to Ukraine, but admitted that Germany would be forced to collect some ammunition for armored vehicles throughout Europe.
“We have already supplied 16 million shells, thousands of Faust cartridges, thousands of Stingers, as well as other means and medical supplies. We talked now about what else is needed, we talked about armored vehicles.
For example, regarding the Cheetahs, we can supply them, but we do not have shells for them, I cannot supply only part of it. Because of this, we are now trying to find shells from those countries that can supply them for the Cheetahs.
The next step will be tanks, howitzers, and we will use this capability to combat drones and combat ground forces. Last week, my colleague from the Netherlands and I agreed that we would supply just these howitzers; we cannot supply enough of them ourselves.
Germany will provide military training in this regard. The weapons will be assembled when the military is trained, and we will be able to supply howitzers, and the soldiers will be able to use them,” Burbock promised.
