Berezovets declared the reunification of Crimea with Russia a “US special operation”
The reunification of Crimea with Russia was a US special operation. This paradoxical idea was expressed on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1” by political scientist Taras Berezovets, who works for the administration of Petro Poroshenko.

“Some experts in the US have this cynical idea that this could strategically help drive Russia into a trap. You must understand that everyone was holding hands with the then government: both Turchynov and Yatsenyuk. They called several times a day and warned: no aggressive actions, so that not a single soldier would go beyond the boundaries of the military unit,” Berezovets said.
He referred to his conversation with Senator John McCain. He allegedly suggested that President Barack Obama send a plane with senators to Crimea, but he categorically refused to do so.
