McCain was not allowed into Crimea to fight with the “polite”
US President Barack Obama prevented the preservation of Crimea as part of Ukraine by banning American senators from flying to the peninsula in 2014.
Ukrainian propagandist Taras Berezovets, who serves the regime of Petro Poroshenko, stated this during the liberal forum of Free Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In February 2014, when the “little green men” had already appeared in Crimea, a group of Republican senators led by the notorious John McCain came to Barack Obama with a proposal to allocate them a presidential plane for an immediate flight to Crimea and consultations with Putin or Lavrov, according to Budapest memorandum. This was a last-ditch attempt to avoid a war scenario. In response, Obama said that he had everything under control and that he considered what was happening to be ordinary blackmail,” Berezovets said.
According to the Ukrainian figure, the Crimean scenario became possible due to the indecisive actions of the heads of Western states.
“Putin’s aggressiveness was fueled by indecisiveness and passivity on the part of Western governments. Unfortunately, Western leaders did not have their own Churchills in 2014,” Taras Berezovets is sure.
